Dr Mark Ching-Pong Poo has joined LOOM as a Research Fellow

Dr Mark Ching-Pong Poo is a Research Fellow in LOOM. Before this role, he was a Post-doctoral Research Associate In Marine Transport and obtained his PhD at Liverpool John Moores University. During his PhD, he successfully developed an intelligent decision support system, integrating big data analysis, optimisation algorithms, and vehicle routing models for providing local and regional climate change indices for transport infrastructures. Also, he is interested in popularisation of electric vehicles and decarbonisation of urban transport.

Best Paper Award - The Asian Journal of Shipping and Logistics

Dr. Ching Pong Mark Poo and Prof. Zaili Yang received the ICASL Conference Best Paper Award, for their paper titled “Vulnerability Analysis of Cruise Shipping in ASEAN Countries facing COVID-19”, (co-authored with Dr. Yui Yep Lau from Hong Kong Polytech University), 14th International Conference of Asian Shipping and Logistics (ICASL) Conference, Seoul, South Korea 27th August, 2021.

Dr. Huanhuan Li has joined LOOM as a Research Fellow

Dr. Li received her MSc in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics and her PhD in Traffic Information Engineering and Control from the Wuhan University of Technology, China. Dr. Li's research focuses on autonomous shipping, data mining, abnormal behaviour identification and risk prediction using machine learning and deep learning methods. Following her PhD, she had a postdoctoral appointment at the Nanyang Technological University and a Research Assistant appointment at Wuhan University of Technology.

Dr. Shiqi Fan has joined LOOM as a Research Fellow

Dr. Fan holds a BSc and a Dual PhD in Maritime and Mechanical Engineering from Wuhan University of Technology China and LJMU. Dr. Fan’s research focus on maritime safety and human factors/human reliability analysis, including maritime accident analysis, human errors, neuroimaging technology application and ship bridge simulation. Dr. Fan, as the leading author, has over 10 publications on various topics of maritime safety.
